அனைவருக்கும் ஒரு வேண்டுகோள்

பொறுமையாகப் படிக்கவும்.

***************************************************

Dear All,

This is Lalitha, W/o.Rajesh Subramanian. I would like to share
something with u. February 23,2010 is an unforgettable day in my life.
Fire occured at Carlton Towers, Bangalore which took away the souls of
9 precious lives. One among them is my dear husband, Rajesh. Still the
accident seems to be a dream for me. I am not able to digest the same.

Morning we got ready together to office. He dropped me at office at
9.30 saying evening i will come to pick u. I called him up at 1pm
saying my maternity leave is sanctioned and from tomorrow i will be at
home. He said "Leave away all your tensions from tomorrow, Stay at
home relaxed. I will get u a Lap top. U better help me from home from
tomorrow:. These were the last words he spoke to me.

When i heard the news that he is hospitalised and getting treated at
Manipal Hospital, I rushed to Manipal. But I saw him only in the
Mortuary. Eyes are filled with tears if I am reminded of that. What
has happened is happened. Even the almighty cannot change it. Next day
we left Bangalore. So i didn't have any idea of what exactly has
happened in Carlton Towers.

After 15 days we went to Bangalore. Same house, same kitchen, same
bedroom, the same street. Remembered of those 1 and half years me and
Rajesh used to roam around the streets, getting vegetables from the
same vendors, going to same hotel, cooking together in the kitchen.

On 23rd March 2010 we had a small memorial at 5pm at Carlton Towers
which was the first month anniversary of the fire accident. I could
see young married women crying for their husband, small children
crying for their mother, aged parents who lost their daughter and son.
It was indeed really painful.

But what is the cause of all these. Is it god made. No it is a man
made accident. If we had been alert, we could have not lost our loved
ones. The building did not have a proper emergency exit. The fire
extinguisher shows the due date as November 2009. The fire engine
which came to the spot did not have water in it. Isn't it not funny.
The Ladders could not reach the top floors. The security guard was not
trained. There was neither a fire alarm nor a smoke alarm in the
building. For the government officials to make money, should we
sacrifice the lives of our loved ones. What has happened is more than
enough. No more event of this kind.

The family of the Victims have formed a community in Face Book called
"Beyond Carlton". It is a committee to fight against fire and ensure
justice. So i request you all to join the community and help us for
the success of the community. But to our shock, there was a major fire
at Kolkata, Park street on the first month anniversary of the
accident.Same time and the same reasons were reported. So pls let us
not sacrifice one more life from our family. Hope i will be getting
your support in this.

With Regards
Lalitha Rajesh

good post

Let us not involve in blame game.

1. Like developed countries, we ourselves buy a small fire extinguisher and keep in our home and office.

The small extinguishers will definitely help to save human life, though it may not help to save the material damages.

2. WE should develop the habit of insuring our house under fire insurance/all risks insurance policy.

They carry minimum water only, to ensure they reach the place fast. It is the duty of the place - building - to provide water hydrants.

The buildings are to be equipped with water and fire hose / extinguishers to a certain extent. Please visit ITPL Bangalore to see how well this is implemented.

I have seen this well implemented in USA. Canada. UAE. Singapore etc..

How long does it take to implement in India?

//ladder didn't reach//

Come on, any building should be built with all fire safety hazards in mind. Now with all the bribes around, people dont even read, what has to be built, to safegaurd occupants.

The buildings have to be built with outside fire safety / exit ladders like that what every building has in New York. ( beyond a certain height, they dont recommend, as win will blow you away! )

we need to file a public interest litigation against govt which has to take responsibility for the accidents. Only then teh govts will learn.Coz govt would not want to shell out money easily.sadly if the dead had been children/family of politicians ,the response will be different.but let us fight however hard it may be.

Can feel the pain in your cousin's words... I fully know words really can never communicate the sentiments of sharing the grief and void at the loss of a loved one. For your cousin and the family it must be an anxious and trying period, and much more painful to feel helpless that an accident that could have easily been averted has consumed over 20 lives!

One does know that the passage of time will help ease the sorrow it is in fact only then that sometimes the sense of void really hits and that is when one needs the support of near and dear ones.

This is to say that our thoughts are with her and pray that the soul finds great and ultimate peace. May peace be with her also and all precious and good memories give her the strength and solace.

Too sad to hear about,

We can't expect the government to provide all the facilities, as they already proved that they are here to fool people.
Our society should be having habit of learning lessons from the past mistakes, otherwise this kind of pathetic incidents will repeat again and again.

Collection of individual responsibilities may make the difference,

Let's hope not to have such incidents in the future.

எனக்கும் இதுமாதிரி ஒன்னு வந்துச்சு ,

Mail from one of my friend so i am forwarding to all of you guys
Please read it and forward it to all the people whom you care for !

Dears,

With deep pains (and tears in my eyes), I am sorry to inform You that yesterday morning, one of my dear friend's elder son (Mr. Aditya Suresh Joshi), age 19, studying in 1st year of engineering, died in Keshvani Hospital, Mumbai. He was admitted in Keshavani Hospital as burned patient.

Reason

4 days back this boy had gone to Amravati (One of the district place located in State of Maharashtra) on study tour. After their study was over, he, his classmates & his teachers, all of them were standing on "Badnera" railway station to catch the train. "Badnera" is the name of the railway station for "Amravati" city.

As soon as they arrived on Badnera Railway station, many of them started taking pictures of their friends using "Mobile Phones" and/or "Digital Camera". One of them complained that, in his camera, he was not able to capture more number of friends in one frame. He was not able to catch the angle. Another boy suggested that let's climb on train boogie and take picture so that all of them can be accommodated in single frame.

At that there was one goods wagon (all of them were oil tankers) train resting between 2 main railway lines.

Kumar Aditya climbed up oil boogie. Above his head, 40,000 volts electrical line was passing through. As soon as he clicked the digital camera? 40,000 volt current passed through the camera flash light to his camera and then from his camera to his fingers and then from his fingers to his body. All this happened within fraction of minutes. Next moment he was thrown from the top. His body was half burned on the spot.

At that time, his father (my friend) was traveling in Bangkok. His many friends in Pune came to know about this via mobile SMS. They instantly arranged air ambulance in Amravati and his burned body was brought to Keshavani Hospital, Mumbai. I was told that this is the best hospital in Mumbai. For 1 and 1/2 day or so he was talking to his relatives. When he was admitted to the hospital, at that time only, doctor informed his relatives that don't keep great hopes. Because of lot of complex issues in half burned body? He died yesterday morning.

Now how many of us are aware about this technological threats & dangers? Honestly, Kumar Aditya and his father was not aware. His family was not aware. Our entire friend circle of more than 12,000, we were not aware. Now should we call ourselves as fully educated and fully knowledgeable people? Think of it. Please avoid mobile phones on petrol outlets. Please avoid talking on mobile phones while driving. I also know many of my friends who do not bother about this good suggestion and each one of them have opted for "Chalta Hai Yaar Attitude". Please avoid talking on mobile phones while they are in charging mode. Avoid charging mobile phones near Your bed and/or near wooden furniture. Avoid mobile phones near high voltage electrical lines like railway stations and use flash lights. My friend, his family members and we all friends learned our lesson with loss of young life. Now Would You like to empower Your friends about this accident so as to avoid future accidents? We can save human life by sending this msg to everyone.

I think this is prevalent almost in all professions. Such accidents provide visibility of such behavior while the others do get that kind of review or visibility.
This is what is called a "Chalta Hai" attitude. We face such situations at work multiple times a day, while working with offshore teams. We will assign few things or ask a question or two, expecting an answer by our morning, or just even a status update. Alas, no such things, and if you ask the following day, a detached response or some excuse.
I think this gives a perfect topic for someone, who faces such attitude on a daily basis as you navigate through your day either at work or home.
Kalam is shouting from the roof tops about his 2020 dreams, and we have such attitude in every office/home/street/village/town/city in India. Its going to remain only as his dreams, never make it to fruition.
